Infant Body Parts Uncovered
There has been a grusome discovery of parts of a baby's body.
The remains were found in a sewage treatment works near Hull on Wednesday afternoon.
Humberside Police say the grim discovery was made at Saltend where officers are urging the mother of the baby to come forward.
Superintendent Christine Kelk said: "I would like to appeal directly to the mother of this baby - or to anyone who may know the identity or whereabouts of this mother.
"I remain very concerned about your well-being and my immediate priority is to ensure that you receive any necessary midwifery and medical care.
"I appreciate that you must be feeling very confused, upset and afraid. Please be assured that I want to make sure you are safe and well.
"We are already exploring a wide range of possibilities and believe that the community can play a key role in helping to identify the mother.
"Anyone who may have any information - no matter how unimportant they may believe it to be - should contact us immediately."
It is not known how old the baby was and if the baby is a boy or girl. Officers have cordoned off the scene to allow an investigation to take place.
