Appeal Over Suspicious Fire In Aberdeen

Police in Aberdeen are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire at a block of flats in the city.

The fire broke out at a flat on the seventeenth floor of Aulton Court, between 1:30am and 2am on Tuesday morning.

Fire crews extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the front door of the property.

Paramedics also treated the flat's occupants for smoke inhalation and three people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

Grampian Police said that they were treating the fire as arson.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable John Reid, said: "This was a particularly dangerous act, which could have had much more serious consequences considering the location and the potential for this fire to have spread.

"Not only that, but the occupants of the flat, including a young child, had a lucky escape.

"I am appealing for anyone with information on this incident to come forward and contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0845 600 5 700 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on: 0800 555 111.
