Daughter Found Guilty Of Mother's Murder

A woman has been found guilty of murdering her mother and dumping her body in a stream in Ayrshire.

At the High Court in Glasgow today (Friday), Lisa Brown, 21, was found guilty of the murder of Anne Brown, 51. Her former boyfriend, John Wilson, 25, was convicted of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

The pair were also found guilty of a second charge of disposing of the victim's body.

The couple had both been charged with murder and had both lodged special defences, blaming each other for the crime.

Anne Brown's body was found in Clerkland Burn in Ayrshire, on October 24 last year. She had been beaten to death.

Mrs Brown had been reported missing two days earlier, by her own mother, along with her 20-month-old grandson, who was later found in Brown and Wilson's flat in Maryhill, Glasgow.

During the trial, Wilson had admitted helping to wrap Mrs Brown's body and disposing of it.

Judge Lord Matthews described the crime as "appalling".
