Bodies Found In Edinburgh Flat
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of an elderly woman and a man whose bodies were discovered in a flat in Edinburgh.
Police found the bodies - thought to be a mother and son - in the city's Dean Village, on Tuesday after they were alerted by a call from a member of the public.
The Daily Record reported the man's body was found hanged, while inquiries into the death of the woman are continuing.
The man and woman have yet to be formally identified.
Forensic officers are continuing to search the first-floor flat throughout yesterday for evidence.
The owner of the flat, Neil Harper, named the pair as Brian Rockall and his mother Valerie.
He told the Daily Record: "I knew she was quite poorly and they weren't responding to my letters or phone calls so I was obviously concerned about what was going on."
A police spokeswoman confirmed an investigation into the deaths had been launched. She said: "Lothian and Borders Police can confirm it is carrying out inquiries following the discovery of two bodies within a house in Edinburgh's Dean Village.
"The bodies of a man and a woman were found within a private dwelling house around 9pm on Monday, after officers were alerted following a call from a member of the public.
"We are currently treating the deaths as unexplained and no details of the victims will be released until next of kin have been informed. Forensic investigations are under way and house-to-house inquiries are being carried out."
