Police Given More time To Quiz Teacher Over 'Attack'

Detectives have been granted more time to question a teacher arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a schoolboy, and the assault of two other pupils in Nottinghamshire.

Science teacher Peter Harvey, 49, was arrested yesterday after the pupil, who was named locally as Jack Waterhouse, 14, and two other students were injured.

Jack is said to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital after the incident which took place at All Saints’ Roman Catholic School in Broomhill Lane, Mansfield.

On Thursday police were granted extra time to question Mr Harvey until today. They have until 8.15pm on Friday in which to question him.

The 14-year-old was initially taken to Kings Mill Hospital in the town, but has since been moved to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for specialist treatment.

Teacher In Court Over 'Pupil Attempted Murder'
A science teacher is to appear in court today charged with he attempted murder of one of his students at a Nottinghamshire school. Peter Harvey, 49, of Rannoch Drive, Mansfield, is accused of attacking 14-year-old Jack Waterhouse at All Saints’ Roman Catholic School in Mansfield on 8 July.
