Police Hunt Gunman After Dog Walker Shot
A police investigation is underway after a 40-year-old man was shot in Edinburgh.
The victim, who was walking his dog in the Paisley Drive area of the city at around 4.00am, was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after raising the alarm himself.
It is understood he had been hit by a single gunshot to the leg and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Detectives are currently carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area and are appealing to any other witnesses to come forward.
A detailed forensic search at the scene is also underway.
Large silver screens have been erected by police at each end of Paisley Drive, while police tape also seals off Meadowfield Drive from Parsons Green Primary School for a few hundred feet.
Det Insp George Thompson said: "Even at that time of the morning, there are usually a number of people out walking their dogs and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary to get in touch with us."
A description of the gunman has not yet been released by police.
