Killed UK Servicemen Named

Two British servicemen who died within hours of one another after being injured in separate incidents in Afghanistan, have been named.

The Ministry of Defence named them as Lance Corporal Robert Richards, 24, of the Royal Marine Armoured Support Group, and 20-year-old Lance Corporal Kieron Hill, of 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment.

L/Cpl Richards was injured near Lashkar Gah in Helmand province, in the south of the country last week. He died at Selly Oak Hospital on Wednesday.

L/Cpl Hill was killed in an explosion near Garmsir in Helmand on Thursday.

Soldier Shot In Afghanistan Named
The British Soldier shot dead in Afghanistan has been named as Lance Corporal Jordon Dean Bancroft. The 25-year-old from Burnley was shot during an exchange of fire with insurgents on Saturday. The family of Mr Bancroft said: "We will always remember Jordan loving a challenge, in particular outdoor pursuits.

British soldier killed in Basra named
The Ministry of Defence has named the soldier who was killed in Basra on Sunday as Lance Corporal Dennis Brady. L/Cpl Brady, 37, from Barrow-in-Furness, was a Royal Army Medical Corps Regular Reservist, attached to the 1st Battalion the Light Infantry. He was serving in Iraq as a reservist after he left the regular Army in 2004.

British soldier dies in Basrah clashes
A British soldier has been killed and a second injured during clashes with militants in the southern Iraqi city of Basrah last night. The MoD has named the dead soldier as 29-year-old Lance Corporal Paul David Trevor Thomas, of the 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry.

Two Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan
Two British soldiers have been killed after their armoured vehicle struck a makeshift bomb in Afghanistan on Thursday. Both soldiers were from 1st the Queen's Dragoon Guards, which had been providing security in the Yakchal region of Nahr-e-Saraj, according to Task Force Helmand spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Mackenzie.

British Soldier Dies In Afghan Helicopter Crash
A British soldier is among three troops who have been killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed. The soldier, from 22 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers, died after the helicopter crashed during takeoff in Zabul Province on Monday afternoon.
