British Soldier Killed In Helmand Explosion
A British soldier has died in a bomb blast in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
The serviceman, from the Royal Marines Armoured Support Group, was killed while travelling in a Viking vehicle near Lashkar Gah, in Helmand Province.
Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson, spokesman for Task Force Helmand, said: "We are numb with grief at this loss of a noble Marine, who served his country for the good of the Afghan people.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues who feel the greatest loss. He will always be remembered as a true hero."
The family of the victim - who has not yet been named - have been informed. The marine is the 159th British Army soldier to have been killed in Afghanistan since the conflict began in late 2001.

The Royal Marine Corps has suffered two more casualties. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed today that the British naval personnel were killed in an explosion in Afghanistan. The members of 40 Commando Royal Marines, were on a routine patrol on Sunday when the pair were hit by what is thought to be a roadside bomb.

UK Servicemen Killed In Afghanistan Named
The Ministry of Defence has now named all four of the British servicemen who were killed in Afghanistan over the weekend. Staff Sergeant Brett George Linley, 29, from 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment, The Royal Logistics Corps, was killed in an explosion during a counter-IED operation in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province.
