Boy George Released From Jail Early
Singer Boy George has been released from prison four months into a 15-month sentence. The former Culture Club singer was jailed for falsely imprisoning a male escort at his London home. He left Edmunds Hill Prison in Suffolk on Monday. He was greeted by friends and waved to waiting media before being driven home. The 47-year-old, whose real name is George O'Dowd, is expected to wear an electronic tag during the remaining 11 months of his sentence. The singer was convicted of false imprisonment after admitting handcuffing Norwegian Audun Carlsen to a wall in April 2007.
Man Bailed In Teen Murder Inquiry
A man questioned over the murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot at a Greater Manchester pub has been released on bail. Giuseppe Gregory was shot in the car park of the Robin Hood pub in Stretford on Sunday night and died later in Trafford General Hospital. A 22-year-old man was one of three men arrested over the teenager's murder and has been bailed until July. The two others are now being treated as witnesses, police said.
Woman Injured In House Shooting
An elderly woman has been shot in the leg in Liverpool. Police were called to Rossett Avenue in Greenbank on Monday night following reports that two hooded men had fired a shot at the window of a house. The 60-year-old woman was taken to hospital but Merseyside police said her injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Forensic investigations are taking place at the house and officers are visiting nearby homes to trace witnesses to the attack.
Three Arrested In Drugs Raid
Police in Walsall recovered an amount of drugs and arrested three people following a drugs warrant at an address in Bentley, Willenhall. Officers went to the address in Star Close and arrested two women aged 24 and 46 and a 19-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. All have been bailed while further enquiries take place. A quantity of drugs including what is believed to be Class A drugs and cannabis were also recovered from the address. A quantity of money was also recovered from the address. Sgt Mike Rodgers, from the Bentley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "The warrant was issued following concerns raised with officers from the local community.”

Brixton Drug Gang Get Long Sentences
A gang of criminals who ran a lucrative drug dealing network from a car tyre shop in Brixton were sentenced last week to a total of 81 years in prison. Nine men, who were previously convicted of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, appeared at Kingston Crown Court today to hear their sentences.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

A 47-year-old man has been convicted of fraud in relation to the making and selling of fake bomb detectors. Gary Bolton, of Redshank Road in Chatham, Kent, made "nothing more than boxes with handles and antennae", which were then sold for £10,000 each, the Old Bailey heard.
