Decapitated Body Found In Lake
A decapitated body has been found in a lagoon in Bedfordshire, prompting a murder inquiry.
Officers were called to the Blue Lagoon in Arlesey, Bedfordshire, just before 2pm on Sunday, after reports a body had been found.
It was taken to Bedford Hospital where a pathologist is trying to establish the extent of his injuries and the cause of death.
The death is being treated as murder and police also revealed the body of the white man, with brown body hair, was found wrapped in layers of packaging.
A wheelbarrow, discovered with the body in the lake, is being forensically examined for clues.
Det Ch Insp Jon Humphries, leading the investigation, said: "Our suspicion is that the wheelbarrow was used to convey the body to the lake.
"We don't know exactly how long the body has been there but if anyone has seen someone acting suspiciously in the area, or has information that may help identify the victim or his killers, then please contact police."
A detailed search of the area surrounding the lake is now underway by scenes of crime examiners.
They are also preparing to search the entrance and exit routes for clues, the police spokeswoman said.
