Dubai 'Adultery' Case Mother Freed from Jail

A British woman jailed in the United Arab Emirates for adultery, has today been released.

Marnie Pearce, 40, originally from Bracknell, Berkshire, was convicted of cheating on her Egyptian ex-husband and imprisoned in February in Dubai.

She was handed a three-month prison sentence.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) confirmed that Ms Pearce left her Dubai jail this morning.

The 40-year-old supply teacher had been handed the sentence after her conviction and faced deportation upon her release from prison.

As a result of the conviction she lost custody of her two sons Laith, aged eight and four-year-old Ziad.

Supporters of Ms Pearce - who has denied committing adultery - said her three-month sentence had been cut in an apparent U-turn, as a result of good behaviour.

However, according to her brother Daniel Pearce, she had served all of her 69-day sentence.

Ms Pearce, who was imprisoned in February and held in the women’s section of Dubai Central Jail in Al Awir, had previously launched two appeals against both her conviction, but both were unsuccessful.
