Teen Jailed Over Bottle Throwing Death
A teenager has been jailed for four-and-a-half years for throwing a bottle in a crowded pub, which killed a barmaid.
Neil McNulty, 19, from Heywood, hurled the bottle through the Queen Anne Hotel, in a temper after he was refused entry.
A shard of glass flew into Emma O'Kane's neck, when the bottle shattered.
The 27-year-old mother-of-three bled to death as the glass severed her jugular vein and an artery.
Mc Nulty, of Peel Lane, admitted manslaughter at an earlier hearing.
Mrs O'Kane was off duty at the time of the incident which took place at around 2am on December 27 2007.
She had been celebrating the birthday of her partner, Michael Shepherd, 38, who she planned to marry.
He battled to save her life as she lay there bleeding to death.
Judge Michael Henshell told McNulty he would live with the pain of what he did for the rest of his life.
