Three Killed In Doncaster House Fire
Three people have died and a child is critically ill in hospital following a fire in South Yorkshire.
Investigations are underway after a man, woman and three-year-old boy died in hospital after the blaze in South Street, Highfield in Doncaster in the early hours of Sunday.
Mark Colley, 29, Michelle Colley, 25, and their three-year-old son Lewis died in hospital shortly after the fire in South Street, Highfield, on Sunday.
Police confirmed that all three had died from smoke inhalation.
The couple's five-year-old daughter Sophie was also taken to hospital and is believed to be in a critically ill condition.
A South Yorkshire Police Spokeswoman said: "Three occupants of the address died due to the incident.
"One occupant is currently in a critical condition and is detained in Sheffield Children's Hospital."
Police have added there are no suggestions the fire was started deliberately.
A South Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman also said: "The fire was so severe the investigation is not straightforward because a lot of the house has been destroyed.
"We're still not certain what caused it, but one of the fire officers said it was unlikely to be cooking-related because the kitchen was the one area not involved in the blaze."
Firefighters were called to the house by a neighbour and found all four people upstairs in the mid-terraced house.
Local councillor David Hughes said the woman who died in the fire had been expecting a child in two weeks.
He said: "This has absolutely shocked me, I still feel sick."
