Teenager's Body Discovered In Burn
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a 17-year-old youth was discovered in a burn in Perthshire.
A police dog handler and his dog searching for teenager Robbie Thompson on land near to the Red House Hotel at Coupar Angus made the discovery at around 1pm on Thursday.
The 17-year-old disappeared from his home in Brodie's Yard at the Perthshire town in the early hours of Thursday.
Officers are identifying the body and have notified next-of-kin.
Det Insp Greig Steele said: "The circumstances have yet to be established.
"We are recovering the body and that is a laborious process."
He added that they were also investigating the circumstances leading up to the youth's death.
A cordon was placed around a large area of rural land after the discovery.
A police command unit was established as a large police operation got underway, and a forensic biologist, pathologist, scenes-of-crime photographers and search-trained officers were working in the area.
A post mortem examination is also being held.

Third Body Found In Arson Attack Mansion
A third body has been found in the burnt-out mansion of a millionaire businessman. Christopher Foster, 50, his wife Jill, 49, and their 15-year-old daughter Kirstie had not been seen since the arson attack last Tuesday at Osbaston House, a large country estate in Shropshire. West Mercia Police are treating the case as a murder inquiry.
