Man Admits Double Killings

The Crown court is to pursue charges of murder against a 28-year-old man held over the deaths of two sisters.

Mohammed Ali has already admitted the manslaughter of 22-year-old Yasmine Larbi-Cherif and her 20-year-old sister Sabrina, who were found stabbed in their Birmingham flat last year.

Ali of Old Snow Hill in the city pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of provocation but pleaded not guilty to murdering the women.

He was remanded in custody and will stand trial in May.

The Algerian-born sisters, who were British nationals, had only lived at Jupiter Apartments for a matter of weeks.

Tests revealed they has both died from stab wounds.

Crown prosecutor Naomi Gilchrist said a trial for two counts of murder would be pursued, despite Ali pleading guilty to manslaughter.

He is accused of murdering Yasmine and Sabrina at some point between 12 and 15 September 2008.
