Brother And Sister Appeal To Trace Regis Killers
The young brother and sister of murdered teenager, Adam Regis, have made a fresh appeal to help trace his killers.
On the second anniversary of the 15-year-old's death - who was stabbed in Beckton as he walked home after a trip to the cinema with his girlfriend in March 2007 - officers have revealed it is now believed two of those involved in the murder were of Asian appearance.
A reward of £20,000 is still on offer for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Three men were arrested last December but were bailed to return in May pending further enquiries.
Adam's brother and sister have urged the public to help find their brother's killer.
Adam's eight-year-old brother DJ said: "I am making this appeal on behalf of my brother Adam who I miss very, very much.
"He was not only my brother but my very best friend and I miss him with all my heart. If anyone can come forward with any information please come forward."
His sister Natalie, 14, also said: “"For two years since my brother Adam was brutally taken away I have not been able to express how I feel.
"But I know I need to tell the world that those who killed my brother have taken away a significant part of me too. The murderers of my brother probably don't have the human heart to understand how I feel otherwise they would not have killed him.
"But you who listen to this might just understand how I feel. Please do not condone this crime. Do not shield the murderers for another day longer to take another innocent life."
Adam, who lived in Plaistow in east London, was described as a model pupil who was a reading mentor for younger children at Kingsford Community School in Beckon.
The teenager - a nephew of former Olympic sprinter John Regis - was walking home with his girlfriend Rachel Harmen in what police believe was a motiveless attack.
Det Supt Matthew Horne, from homicide and serious crime command, said: "The last two years have seen detectives carry out extensive enquiries into Adam's murder.
"Everything we have learnt about Adam points to the fact that he was a respected and well-liked teenager who was caring towards his friends and family and a popular student.
"Despite the fact two years have passed we are still working hard to bring Adam's killers to justice and we would appeal for anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it might be, to please contact us."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 3775or the anonymous Crimestoppers number: 0800 555 111.
