Newborn Found Abandoned On Doorstep
A newborn baby has been discovered abandoned in a carrier bag outside a flat in south-east London.
According to police, the one-day old baby was found by children, on their way to school on the doorstep of a third floor flat in Winterslow House, Flaxman Road in Brixton, at 8.25am on Wednesday.
She was wrapped in a blue blanket and placed inside an old blue re-useable Tesco carrier bag.
The newborn child is said to be about a day old and black or Asian and police urgently want to trace the mother.
However, officers said the baby is in good health in hospital.
They believe she was left outside the flat after 4.30am and are currently studying CCTV footage of in the area.
Hospital staff who attended to the infant named her Grace.
Police said the baby was drinking milk and there seem to be no long-term damage after she was left outside.
Insp Simon Rooke from Lambeth Police, said: "She was very, very cold but, due to the speedy discovery by these children, she was brought to hospital very quickly and treated."
He also appealed for the mother to come forward so that she could receive appropriate medical attention.
"We may be looking at heavy blood loss and the sooner we can locate her the sooner she can get medical help."

Missing Baby Found 'Safe And Well'
A nine-month-old baby girl who was reported missing from her home in Glouchestershire on Monday has been found safe and well. Maylayah Delaney had been reported missing by her mother shortly before lunch-time on Monday. Police have confirmed that a man from the West Midlands is helping them with their inquiries.

Police in Northamptonshire have appealed for help in tracing a 15-year-old girl and her 12 week old baby reported missing on Tuesday. Katie Kelly and her daughter were last seen in the Daventry area and police are concerned for their safety. Katie is described at 5' 7'', slim build, long, dark brown, straight hair and green eyes.

A pregnant woman has been attacked with a baseball bat and a knife at her home in Basildon, Essex. The 22-year-old woman, who was in labour, was getting ready to leave her home with her partner to go to the hospital when a gang raided her home. She was hit with a baseball bat and slashed with a knife.
