Man Charged Over Shawn Murder

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Shawn Callum, who was shot on 8 February in Harlesden.

Paul Minto, 21 of Repton Avenue, Harrow, HA3 appeared at Brent Magistrates' Court on 14 February charged with the murder of Shawn Callum, 26, in Shakespeare Avenue, NW10 on Sunday 8 February.

He was remanded in custody to reappear at the Old Bailey on 22 May 2009.

Police were called at approximately 2:30am on Sunday 8 February following a shooting in the street in Shakespeare Avenue, NW10.

Shawn Callum, 26, of W9 was found suffering from a gunshot wound after he had left a party at Stonebridge Primary school.

He was taken to Central Middlesex Hospital by the ambulance service but subsequently died. The post mortem gave cause of death as a gunshot wound.

An incident room has been opened under DCI Fiona Mallon (Trident) on 020 8733 4704.

Two other men aged 18 and 23 were arrested in connection with the inquiry and later bailed to return in April pending further enquiries.

The mean temperature for the UK has been -1.0 °C, well below the long term average of 4.2 °C. The previous coldest December in the series was 0.1 °C, in 1981.

Murder Investigation Launched After Body Found In Flat
A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in a flat in Glasgow. The body of 48-year-old Angela Humphrey was found a flat in Quarrywood Avenue, Barmulloch, at about 16:40 on Wednesday, police have said. It is understood that Ms Humphrey had not been seen since last Friday (21 February).

Hague Pays Tribute To Construction Worker
William Hague has paid tribute to a British construction worker he said is likely to have been "killed at the hands of his captors" in Nigeria. The Foreign Secretary described the killing of Brendan Vaughan as "an unforgiveable act of pure cold-blooded murder", in a statement on Sunday.

Woman Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity For Murder Of Man And Child
A 36-year-old woman has been found not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of a 47-year-old and a four-year-old child in Notting Hill in February this year. Shelley Christopher, of Daley Thompson House, Colville Square, has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order after she was determined to have been insane at the time of the deaths.

Reward Offered In Terry Isaac Murder Investigation
A reward of £20,000 is being offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the murder of 56-year-old Terry Isaacs. Mr Isaacs died in hospital on Tuesday, 24 February. He had been found on 19 February in Brixton suffering head injuries after police had been called to reports of a "pool of blood" in Bannister Close.
