Men In Court Over Landlady Murder

Two men accused of murdering a 61-year-old woman, whose body has not been found, are due to appear in court today.

Italian landlady Antoniette Guarino, who would have turned 62 last week, has been missing since January 7. She was last seen at a doctor's surgery in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, where she lived.

Divers from Avon and Somerset Police and a helicopter were brought in to search for Ms Guarino's body, which centered on a stretch of river between Bradford on Avon Golf Club and the weir about a mile downstream.

Marc Reilly, 24, and David Carr-Burstow, 19, will appear via videolink at Bristol Crown Court later.

Both men, currently on remand at Gloucester Prison, are charged with murdering Ms Guarino between 6 and 13 January.

Two other men - aged 20 and 24 - were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have since been released on police bail.

In a statement released by Ms Gaurino's family, they said "the entire family" are "totally devastated by the senseless loss of such a caring and kind mother and grandmother".

The statement continued: "Wiltshire Police have been in constant contact with the family throughout recent days, and we are grateful for both their professionalism and humanity in these difficult days.

"We also wish to thank the community in Trowbridge and West Wiltshire who have greatly assisted the Police with their enquiries in response to the recent press appeals for information."
