Couple Found Guilty Of Toddler Death

The mother of a two-year-old girl, who died after suffering more than 100 injuries, has been found guilty of her manslaughter.

Zahbeena Navsarka was found guilty of manslaughter of the toddler Sanam, while her partner Subhan Anwar was convicted of murder.

Bradford Crown Court heard the girl died with fractures to all her limbs, in May last year, after being repeatedly assaulted.

The pair, both 21, from Riddings Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, denied repeatedly assaulting Sanam over a month-long period, or encouraging each other by standing by and doing nothing to save the young child.

The jury of six men and six women were told the defendants left Sanam alone and dying in their home while they went to register with their GP.

The court was also told tiny handprints and bloodstains were found inside cupboards at the home in Huddersfield and at a former property on Howley Walk, in Batley, West Yorkshire.
