Prince Harry In New Race Row
Prince Harry is at the centre of a new race row after telling a black comedian, he did not "sound like a black chap".
He is alleged to have made the comment to Stephen K Amos at a comedy show to celebrate Prince Charles' 60th birthday.
Mr Amos, from south-west London, claimed the Prince made the remark at the 'We Are Not Amused' stand-up show in November 2008.
The comedian made the revelation on Five's The Wright Stuff on Tuesday.
He told presenter Matthew Wright that Prince Harry congratulated him on his performance, before adding: "You don't sound like a black chap."
"I wanted to say: How is I supposed to sound?" the comedian said.
Asked if the remark had been made in jest, he replied: "I hope it was." However, co-host Lowri Turner said: "That's not the point."
Mr Amos, who has appeared on a number of shows including BBC's topical panel show 'Have I Got News For You' and 'Mock The Week' later put the comment down to a poor attempt at making banter.
The new row comes just weeks after Harry was accused of racism when a video leaked to the press, showing the Prince refer to a Sandhurst colleague as "our little Paki friend".
A spokesman for Clarence House declined to confirm if the recent allegations were true.
Former Commission for Racial Equality chairman Lord Herman Ouseley said: "It is very sad that Prince Harry thinks black people all talk in the same way.
"It just goes to show how ill-educated members of the upper class can be."
