Officer In Court Over Model Death

A policewoman has appeared in court today charged in connection with allegations she helped her son in relation to charges linked to the murder of a teenage model.

Amy Leigh Barnes, 19, was stabbed at her home in Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester, on 8 November.

Melda Wilks, 49, has been suspended from West Midlands Police after she was charged with assisting an offender.

Her son, Ricardo Morrison, 21, originally from Birmingham, appeared in court last year and is currently remanded in custody.

Ms Wilks was granted bail by Bolton Magistrates' Court until 20 February.

She is then due to appear alongside her son at Manchester Crown Court.

Miss Barnes, who modelled for Cosmopolitan and Nuts magazines and appeared in Channel 4 teen soap Hollyoaks, died in hospital last year after she was found stabbed at a house in Farnworth.

A former royal butler to the Queen has today pleaded guilty to a number of child sex offences. Paul Kidd, 55, of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester appeared in court today accused of a number of charges including the possession of child porn, indecent assault and sexual activity with a child.

Father Charged With Son's Murder
The father of a four-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in West Yorkshire has appeared in court charged with his murder. Ryan Hawkins died after being stabbed at a house in Royd Street in Slaithwaite on Sunday afternoon. A post-mortem revealed that he died from multiple stab wounds.

Man Charged With Rape OF 13-Year-Old Boy
A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 13-year-old boy in the toilets of a Manchester shopping centre. Police were called to the Spindles shopping centre in Oldham, Greater Manchester, around 16.35 on Monday afternoon following reports of an assault on a young teenager.

Teen Remanded Over Rhys Jones' Murder
A teenage boy has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones. The 17-year-old appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court charged with the fatal shooting of eleven-year-old Rhys in Croxteth, Liverpool, last August.

Two more arrested over teenager's murder
Two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of London teenager Paul Erhahon. The pair, aged 15 and 18, were arrested in east London on Tuesday morning. Paul died after being attacked and stabbed outside a block of flats in Leytonstone on April 6. His 15-year-old friend was also stabbed but survived the attack.
