Man Shot Dead Outside North London School

A murder investigation is underway after a man was shot dead outside a primary school in the Harlesden area of north London.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered injured in the street in Shakespeare Avenue, Stonebridge.

Officers, who found the man, were called at about 2.30am to reports of a shooting near Stonebridge School in Shakespeare Avenue, Harlesden, north London.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died later.

A post mortem examination, which took place at Northwick Park Hospital, revealed the victim died from a single gunshot wound.

No one has been arrested in connection with his death.

A statement on the Brent Council website said: "Due to police investigations into an incident close to the school in the early hours of Sunday morning, please be advised the school will be closed on Monday 9 February."

Officers from Operation Trident, which deals with gun crime in London’s black community, are investigating the killing.

Pensioner Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder
A 77-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at a house in north London. Police were alerted by paramedics at around 10pm on Monday night. A 43-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Renewed Appeal In 1995 School Teacher Murder Investigation
A fresh appeal for information has been issued 20 years after the murder of a Walthamstow school teacher. Joy Hewer was sexually assaulted and stabbed in an attack at her flat in Walthamstow on Tuesday, 17 October 1995. No one has ever been charged with her murder.
