Gerrard Denies Nightclub Brawl Charges

Premier League footballer Steven Gerrard has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and affray.

The 28-year-old Liverpool FC Captain was charged in December in connection with a disturbance at the Lounge Bar nightclun in Southport.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates’ court along with two other defendants John Doran, 29, and Ian Gerard Smith, 19, both from Huyton.

All three were granted bail and are due to return to court on March 20.

Company director Marcus McGee, 34, from Churchtown, Southport, required hospital treatment after receiving facial injuries in the incident.

Abu Hamza, who faces a total of 11 terrorism-related charges, appeared by videolink from Belmarsh prison to confirm his name and date of birth.

Officer In Court Over Model Death
A policewoman has appeared in court today charged in connection with allegations she helped her son in relation to charges linked to the murder of a teenage model. Amy Leigh Barnes, 19, was stabbed at her home in Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester, on 8 November.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.
