New Appeal Launched For 2006 Lewisham Murder
Detectives have launched a new appeal for witnesses or information regarding the murder of Emmanuel Odunewu, aged 19, who was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Lewisham on the 28 November 2006.
Detective Inspector Rick Murphy, from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "We have appealed in the past for witnesses. We know there were many people standing at that bus stop and in the immediate area at the relevant time. They would have seen what happened but they have never come forward.
"I am appealing to those people now - please make contact with police and tell us what you saw or what you know so that we can get justice for Emmanuel and his family."
Emmanuel was at a bus stop outside Lewisham police station in the town centre at about 4.30pm on 28 November.
He was waiting for a bus with friends when he was the victim of an unprovoked knife attack. He sustained serious stab wounds and was taken to Lewisham hospital in a car by his friends. He died two days later.
DI Murphy said: "I am determined to do all I can to trace other witnesses to the murder of a young man who had his life cruelly taken away. I'd urge anyone with information to call the Incident Room on 020 8721 4906 or if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
Emmanuel's mother Nancy Odunewu also said: "We are aware that there are many witnesses that have never come forward to talk to police I am appealing to them now.
"Please come forward and talk to the police, help them and help us to give peace to my son and our family. The police will treat your calls in the utmost confidence."
