Prisoner Escapee Recaptured

A suspected violent criminal who went on the run after a prison van was stopped by an armed man has been recaptured.

Wayne Joseph Connor, 20, was snatched by two men wearing balaclavas as he travelled to court from Feltham Young Offenders' Institution in west London on Monday.

The Serco prison van was stopped just before 8am on Monday near Bedfont Lake, Feltham, by at least one armed man, police said.

Connor was arrested at the Clumber Park Hotel in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

He was alone in the hotel room when he was recaptured by officers from the Met's Specialist Crime Directorate, along with Nottinghamshire Police officers.

He was due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court alongside his brother, Jason McInerney, 21, who escaped from custody last year, and a third man. He was accused of three charges of assault and three of burglary.

Connor was the fifth member of the same family to try to escape from custody in the last 10 months, according to a newspaper.
