Police Appeal After Sexual Assault
Officers at Merseyside Police are continuing to appeal for information, following the serious sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman in Duke Street Cemetery, Southport, last Thursday. Police has released six CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with this incident on 20th November.
The CCTV tracks the two men from outside Bakers Bar at around 4am, through Southport town centre.
The first man is described as white, 6ft tall, 28 to 30 years old, of medium build with a full head of short fair-coloured hair parted on the side with, what sounded like, an eastern European accent.
He was wearing a cream/beige coloured hooded top with a dark jacket on top. The jacket has white writing on the bottom of the coat at the rear. He was also wearing blue jeans and white training shoes on.
The second man is described as white, 5ft 7 in tall, 25 to 30 years-of-age, of slim build, short cropped hair with a high forehead; clean shaven, thin nose with, what sounded like an eastern European accent.
He was wearing a dark top with a hood, blue jeans with faded areas at the back and dark coloured shoes.
High-visibility police patrols have been stepped up throughout Southport town centre and officers will be visiting clubs, pubs and bars in the town tonight to obtain more information.
Merseyside Police is appealing for anyone who may have any information which could help them with their inquiries regarding this incident,or recognise the CCTV images and know these men to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 3165 , or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Detectives have arrested two men in connection with this incident, but they have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
