Schoolboys Jailed For 'Callous' Murder
Two schoolboys have been jailed for life for the murder of a man outside a social club in Bolton.
Andrew Smith, 16, and Jason Bolton, 18, both from Deane, attacked Asaf Mahmood Ahmed, 28, as he sat on the steps of a nightclub in December last year, Manchester Crown Court heard.
Smith, who was 15 at the time of the attack, filmed himself on his mobile phone shortly after the incident, as the words "eyes of a killer" were said in the background.
Passing sentence Mr Justice Alistair MacDuff said that while the killing was "callous, unprovoked and lacking in humanity".
Smith was sentenced to a minimum 13 years' detention, while Bolton was told he must serve a minimum 17-year jail term.
The pair attacked Mr Ahmed as he was walking to ahop. His body was found near the fire exit of the Derby Ward Labour Club on Deane Road.
In a statement, the father-of-three’s family described him as "a quiet, private man who would not harm anyone".
It added: "We are not a family without him: something is missing. We will miss him every day of his lives."
