British Soldier Dies In Afghanistan
A British soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.
The soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles was killed as a result of enemy fire, in the Musa Qaleh area of Helmand province, on Tuesday afternoon.
He had been taking part in a joint ISAF/Afghan National Security Forces operation against enemy forces to the south of Musa Qaleh.
The soldier received medical treatment at the scene, but died of his wounds.
Spokesperson for Task force Helmand, Commander Paula Rowe, said: "The death of this soldier has left us all deeply saddened.
Losing a loved one is one of he hardest things to go through, and the thoughts of everyone in Task Force Helmand are with this soldier’s family, friends and comrades at this very difficult time."
His next-of-kin have been informed of his death.
Since operations began in Afghanistan in 2001, 122 UK troops have been killed.

Welsh Soldier Killed In Helmand
A soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh has been killed in an explosion in Afghanistan. The soldier died in a blast while on vehicle patrol in the Musa Qal'eh District in northern Helmand Province at the weekend and his death means 218 British soldiers have now died during the war in Afghanistan.

British Troops Killed As Death Toll Rises
Two more British soldiers have been killed in separate incidents in southern Afghanistan. In the first incident, a soldier from 4th Battalion The Rifles, was killed in a contact explosion, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced this morning. The soldier was out on a foot patrol near Nad Ali.

A soldier from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers has been killed in an explosion in Afghanistan's Helmand province, the Ministry of Defence confirmed today. The soldier, operating with The Light Dragoons Battle Group, died whilst on a vehicle move in the Babaji district yesterday evening.
