M6 Crash Family Funerals To Take Place
Six family members who died in a motorway crash in Cheshire are to be laid to rest today.
David Statham, 38 and his 33-year-old wife Michelle were returning to their home in Llandudno, with their four children when they were killed in a five-vehicle pile up. The family were returning from visiting relatives in Birmingham.
A service for David and Michelle Statham and their children Reece, 13, Jay, nine, Mason, 20 months, and Ellouise, 10 weeks, will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Llandudno church where their two eldest sons were altar boys.
Relatives of the Statham's carried the coffins of the family to the church last night.
Thirty-eight year old Mr Statham and his 33-year-old wife had been together for 19 years.
Mr Statham was a chef at St David's College in Llandudno. The family had moved from Birmingham to north Wales four years ago.
Paulo Jorge Nogueira da Silva, 46, a Portuguese lorry driver has appeared at Chester Crown Court today, charged with six counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was remanded in custody until January 13 next year.

A Portuguese lorry driver has been found guilty of causing the deaths of a family of six in a crash on the M6. Paulo Jorge Nogueira da Silva was sentenced to three years in jail after killing the Statham family, of Llandudno, when the 40-tonne lorry he was driving hit their car as they travelled home from Birmingham.

Rowan Atkinson's divorce from estranged wife Sunetra has been finalised. The actor's wife was granted the 'quickie' divorce today at London's Central Family Court, on the grounds of Atkinson's "unreasonable behaviour". No further details were given.
