Four Arrests Over Everton Stabbing

Police in Liverpool have made four arrests following the fatal stabbing of a boy in the city last week.

Three men and a teenage boy are being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The men, aged 21, 20 and 18, and a 16-year-old boy are all from the Kirkdale area, Merseyside police said.

Sixteen-year-old Joseph Lappin was set upon by a gang of up to 15 youths near an Everton youth club on 20 October.

The young Army cadet was chased and eventually stabbed in the heart during the incident.

It is believed Joseph, from Old Swan, was accompanied by two friends, and had only visited the Shrewsbury House Youth Club for the first time on the night of his murder.

One of his friends, a 17-year-old, also sustained stab wounds in the attack.

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, a 20-year-old man from Vauxhall, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Kirkdale, have been questioned on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Two other teenagers, whose ages were not given and who were arrested close to the murder scene, were released on bail last week.
