Four In Court Over Terrorism Charges
Four men have been charged with terror offences following a series of dawn raids in Birmingham, police have said.
The men, all from Birmingham, were arrested in raids by West Midlands Police, last Tuesday.
Three of the men are due to appear today at City of Westminster Magistrates Court charged with "engaging in conduct with the intention of assisting in the commission of acts of terrorism" under the Terrorism Act 2006.
The fourth is accused of failing to disclose information relating to an act of terrorism.
West Midlands officers said the arrests had followed a complex investigation by its counter-terrorism unit.
Shortly after the arrests were made, police revealed they were "not related to any immediate plot or threat to public safety" and no-one else was being sought in connection with the investigation.
Forensic teams also removed a number of items from the six homes and two business premises - one in Birmingham and the other in Kenilworth, Warwickshire - they searched.
The raids took place in the Sparkhill, Ward End, Hodge Hill, Bordesley Green and Aston areas of Birmingham.
