Man Remanded Over Death Collision

A man charged with causing the death of a father-of-two, has been remanded in custody.

Bryan Hardwick, 26, was returning home with his son, daughter and a family friend on Saturday, 11 October after collecting conkers.

A Rover 45 vehicle ran him over on the A688 at Bishop Auckland, Co Durham. The group were believed to have been on the curb waiting to cross the south westbound lane of the road when the car left the road and struck them.

Anthony Whittaker, 26, was allegedly driving the car. He appeared at Durham Crown Court, where Judge Peter Armstrong was told further charges may be brought.

Mr Hardwick's friend, David Weatherburn, 40, who was seriously injured in the collision, died from his injuries, in Darlington Memorial Hospital on Sunday. His son Liam suffered serious head and internal injuries, and spent several days in hospital, while his three-year-old daughter was uninjured.

Mr Hardwick's funeral is due to take place at Valley Methodist Chapel, Eldon Lane, Bishop Auckland on Saturday at 10am.

Man remanded over Manchester triple murder
A 32-year-old man been remanded in custody after he was charged with the murder of a woman and her two teenage children in Manchester. Pierre Williams, from Cherrington Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham, was charged with killing Beverley Samuels, 36, her 18-year-old daughter Kesha Wizzart and 13-year-old son Fred Junior Wizzart.
