£1.2m Of Cocaine Found On Cruise Liner

More than £1 million of cocaine has been discovered during a raid on a luxury cruise liner, customs officials have said.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) investigators and UK order Agency officers seized the drugs, with an estimated street value of £1.2 million on Sunday.

Seven people were also arrested after the P&O liner Arcadia, which was docked in Southampton, was searched.

Four of those arrested were found to have a total of 30kg of cocaine strapped to their bodies.

Three women and one man are due to appear before Southampton Magistrates court later today. Meanwhile, three other's have been released on bail.

All seven are from the Birmingham and Manchester area.

None of those arrested are crew members.

HMRC Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation, Peter Avery, said: "Drugs devastate lives and communities and we are determined to prevent them reaching UK streets.

"Our investigations will not only focus on those transporting cocaine, but also those that finance and mastermind this illegal trade."

Woman Charged Over 'Kids With Drugs'
A Mexican woman has been charged with drug smuggling after customs officers at Heathrow allegedly found 15 kilos of cocaine strapped to the legs of two children. Elisa Vazquez Sanchez, 40, was arrested following the discovery of the drugs during a search at Terminal 4 at the airport on Tuesday.

Arrest follows cocaine seizure on cruise ship
Customs officers have arrested one person in connection with the seizure of a quantity of cocaine and heroin hidden aboard a cruise liner which arrived in Southampton two weeks ago. The cruise ship, MV Sundream, docked on June 20 at Southampton Cruise Liner Terminal, after a two-week cruise of the Mediterranean.

Flight Crew Bailed Following £250k Drug Find
Customs officers have questioned 15 members of a South African Airways flight crew after £250,000 of cocaine was discovered on a plane. The employees were arrested after UK Border Agency officers found 5kg of the Class A substance when their flight from Johannesburg landed at Heathrow on Monday. The cocaine was discovered in luggage on the flight.

Half-tonne of cocaine seized in East London
Six men were arrested in East London last night, following the seizure by customs investigators of over half a tonne of cocaine with an estimated street value of around £100 million. The drugs were concealed within a consignment of coconuts imported from Guyana and delivered to Spitalfields Market.

Man Jailed Over False Kidnap Claim
A man who claimed to have been kidnapped and demanded a ransom from his partner to secure his release has been jailed. Police were contacted by the distressed partner of Paresh Savji Devraj, who reported that he had been kidnapped and that he would be beaten and killed if she didn't pay £1,000.
