Woman Bailed Over Fire Deaths

A 29-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and child neglect, has been released on bail, police have said.

According to sources, Denise Goldsmith was arrested following the deaths of her sons, Lewis and Taylor Jenkins, aged seven and five, who died in a house fire on Saturday 4 October at 3.00pm.

Post mortem examinations confirmed the two boys died from inhaling fire fumes after a blaze happened at their terraced home in Milfoil Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Sussex Police revealed the 29-year-old was freed on police bail overnight. Police have not formally named Mrs Goldsmith as the person arrested. However, sources have confirmed she is the suspect.

Fire investigators from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have also been working alongside detectives to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
