Police Officer Charged With Teen Death

A police officer is to be charged with causing the death of Hayley Adamson, 16, in May this year.

Hayley was killed instantly after she was struck by a Northumbria Police car on Denton Road, Newcastle.

PC John James Dougal, who was driving the vehicle, will face a dangerous driving charge.

Representatives from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) at Wakefield have informed Hayley's family of the decision.

Chris Enzor, Chief Crown Prosecutor, CPS Durham said: "Following a thorough investigation by the IPCC, I confirm my decision to charge PC John James Dougal of Northumbria Police with causing death by dangerous driving.

"PC Dougal was driving the patrol car that struck Hayley Adamson.

"My thoughts are with Hayley’s family at this difficult time."

PC Jailed Over Schoolgirl's Crash Death
A police officer who caused the death of a teenage girl by dangerous driving, has been jailed for three years. Hayley Adamson, 16, was killed when she stepped out into the path of PC John Dougal's car in Newcastle's Denton Road on 19 May last year. Dougal was chasing a suspect car at the time, but did not have his siren or blue lights switched on.

Police Officer Found Guilty Of Teen's Death
A police officer has been found guilty of knocking down and killing a schoolgirl by dangerous driving. Pc John Dougal, 41, a qualified advanced driver, was travelling at 94mph without blue lights or sirens, just moments before knocking down and killing 16-year-old schoolgirl Hayley Adamson in Newcastle in May.

Three British men arrested in the United Arab Emirates on suspicion on spying have had their court appearance postponed until next week. Conrad Clitheroe, Gary Cooper and expat, Neil Munro, have been held without charge since their arrest by an off-duty police officer in February.

Police handling of Hayley Richards' case 'poor'
Wiltshire Police have been criticised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) over the handling of a case which resulted in the murder of a pregnant woman. Hayley Richards,was murdered in her Trowbridge flat by her boyfriend, Hugo Quintas last June. The Portuguese factory worker slit the 23-year-old's throat.
