Teen Stab Fatality Is 25th In London

A post mortem examination is to take place today after the latest of a grim series of fatal stabbing incidents.

The body of Shaquille Maitland-Smith - who was knifed in the stomach in Hackney, east London, on Saturday night - is to be examined by the pathologist today.

The 14-year-old boy was knifed to death when he was attacked by a group of youths outside his home, alongside his 16-year-old sister, who suffered slash wounds in the attack and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

It is believed that both had been involved in an argument with a group of youths prior to the stabbing.

The boy's death brings the number of teenagers killed in violent circumstances in London this year to 25.

Police said they were keeping an open mind about the motive.

No arrests have been made in relation to the attack and police are appealing for witnesses.
