Toddler Shot With Air Gun
A toddler is critically ill in hospital after being shot in the head with an airgun.
The 18-month-old boy suffered serious head injuries in the incident in the Washwood Heath area of Birminham at 6.40pm on Sunday.
He was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
An ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and a doctor were sent to the scene.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Two additional paramedics travelled with the ambulance crew to provide additional assistance on route to hospital.
"When the crews dropped him off he was in a stable but critical condition."
A spokesman for the hospital confirmed the boy is still being treated but was "not at liberty to confirm anything else".
"I know this is a subject of police interest already and we will know more as time goes on."
News reports suggest that the incident was "an accident".
Earlier this month, a schoolgirl from Glasgow was shot above her left eye by a pellet from a air pistol during a family break in Bolton.
It is reported she was targeted by a group of boys as she played with friends in a local park.
The girl suffered bruising but escaped serious injury.
