Drunk At Wheel Mother Handed Jail Sentence

A mother has been jailed for 80 days for drink-driving offences after her own child raised the alarm.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was more than four-and-a-half times the legal limit, during the incident in July.

Tests showed she had a breath alcohol level of 158 microgrammes.

Her five-year-old daughter banged on the car windows and shouted "stop driving mummy" alerting passers-by who contacted the police.

A member of the public then opened the rear door and removed her from the vehicle.

Police at Castings Avenue in Falkirk town centre then apprehended the driver after the car crashed into a wall.

The woman, 35, was convicted of two breaches under the Road Safey Act and also breaching the Children and Young Persons Act.

She was sentenced to 80 days at Falkirk Sheriff Court.
