A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody, charged with the murder of a 26-year-old male in a Bridgend village.
Craig Ivey, of Gilfach Goch, died after being stabbed at Nantyffyllon near Maesteg last Monday.
South Wales Police have already said they believe that Mr Ivey knew the man who fatally stabbed him before fleeing from the scene in Coegnant Road, at around 1am on 4th August.
Police say two other people were injured in the incident, a 32-year-old man who was bitten by a dog and a 31-year-old woman who needed stitches to a finger wound.
South Wales Police confirmed that a man appeared before magistrates in Bridgend last Friday.
He has been remanded in custody to reappear at Cardiff Crown Court on 18 August.
Local man, Ken Whitehead, who knew Mr Ivey since he was a baby said: "Craig was a lovely boy and always very happy."
Another neighbour, who did not wished to be named said: "When something like this happens somewhere else you don't think too much about it but when it happens on your doorstep it really hits home."
Acting Superintendent Divisional Commander Paul Murphy said: "Incidents involving knives within the borough are extremely rare.
"We are supporting local communities in Maestag providing reassurance to those who are understandably shocked by what is happened."
