Teen 'Savagely Assaulted' In Oldham
A teenager has been "savagely assaulted" in Oldham town centre.
The incident which resulted in the victim requiring more than 50 staples to his head, happened in a bar, believed to be in Yorkshire Street, at around 2.45pm on Sunday.
The 18-year-old man who was on his own, after losing his friends, was approached by a group of men.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said that "without provocation, one of the men then struck the victim's head with the butt of a glass bottle".
He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital and later to the Hope hospital, where his condition is described as stable.
He suffered a fracture to his skull and bleeding to the brain and needed 51 staples to his head following surgery.
The victim is unable to remember what bar he was in nor provide an accurate description of his attackers due to the severity of the injuries.
Police are keen to trace a woman who administered first aid to the victim after he collapsed.
Detective Constable Jed Stubbs, from Oldham CID said: "Because the victim cannot remember what happened, we need the public's help in piecing together exactly what happened and where so we can trace the offender and bring him to justice."
Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
