Soldier Dies In Afghanistan
A soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, while two others were injured in the bomb attack.
A spokesman for the MoD has revealed that he was a member of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), on attachment to the Parachute Regiment.
The injuries of the other two soldiers are not thought to be life threatening.
The soldier's death, on Tuesday night, takes the number of British military casualties in the country to 111.
An MoD statement said: "Whilst returning fire one soldier from 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment was injured by a mine.
"While leaving the scene after suppressing the enemy, a vehicle other soldiers were travelling in hit a suspected improvised explosive device."
Meanwhile, another survivor, Royal Irish Ranger Martin Delaney, of Lusk, Co Dublin, has been talking of his escape from another attack, this time at the weekend.
The 23 year-old suffered shrapnel wounds and had to be treated along with two other soldiers injured in the attack.
The Dublin soldier's father Patrick Delaney, has revealed in a statement that Martin telephoned him on Sunday to let them know he was recovering well after Friday night's attack in the Sangin area of Helmand Province.
Mr Delaney told reporters his family had been glued to the news since his son was shipped out for his first tour of Afghanistan five months ago.
