Schoolboy 'Hangs' In Woodland
A schoolboy has been found hanged by a rope swing in woodland in Lancashire.
Joe Richardson, 12, of Up Holland, was reported missing on Monday night after he failed to return to his home in Dewberry fields.
He was discovered under a tree in a wooded area off High Meadow and was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead.
Family and friends found Joe after he failed to return home at 9pm after being out playing. The cause of Joe's death has not been confirmed.
Lancashire Police are not treating the death as suspicious and are currently conducting an investigation.
Joe's Headteacher, Peter Doyle said Joe was a "quiet, bright and articulate young man".
His mother, Sofia Rawsterene said: "Joe was friendly, popular and much loved" and "we are struggling to come to terms with his death and would be grateful for privacy at this extremely difficult time."
Staff and pupils from his school are said to be "in complete shock".
