Woman Dies After Minibus Mounts Pavement

A woman has died from her injuries after being hit by a minibus in Leeds. The 32-year-old, from Wakefield, became trapped between the Mercedes minibus and a shop after the vehicle mounted the pavement on Merrion Street on Monday at 4.10pm. West Yorkshire Police said the woman was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but died later that evening. The 56-year-old driver of the minibus, from Batley, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being questioned by police. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Climber Dies In Lake District Fall

A rock climber has died after sustaining serious injuries following a plunge on Raven Crag in the Lake District. The 45-year old man from Preston was preparing to descend from the mountain on Sunday afternoon when he fell 250 ft from a near-vertical rock face. Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue (LAMRT) responded to an emergency call at around 5.40pm. LAMRT team leader Nick Owen said the man who was climbing with two other people "slipped and fell onto the scree below sustaining multiple injuries". He was airlifted by an RAF Boulmer helicopter to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. He later died in the intensive care unit of the hospital on Monday.

Two Arrested Over Fatal Minibus Crash
Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal minibus crash in Staffordshire. Two people died when the minibus they were travelling in collided with a lorry just before 07:00 on Sunday morning. Another six people travelling in the bus were injured, one critically, in the crash.

Teenager Who Died In Brighton Cliff Fall Named As Nick Cave's Son
A 15-year-old boy who died after falling from a cliff in Brighton has been named as Arthur Cave, son of musician Nick Cave. It is understood that the teenager was found on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap at 18:00 on Tuesday suffering life threatening injuries. He died a short time later in hospital.

Pilot Who Fell Ill Dies after Passenger Safely Lands Plane
A passenger has been forced to make an emergency landing at Humberside Airport after the plane's pilot became ill. Police have confirmed the pilot later died, however they were unable to confirm the cause of death. His family has been informed. Two flight instructor talked to the passenger as he took control of the plane.

Teenager rescued from sea dies
A 15-year-old boy rescued from the sea off Norfolk has died. A lifeboat crew rescued the boy who had got into difficulties while swimming with another boy off Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk. He was located by the lifeboat and was airlifted to hospital. But he later died shortly after being admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
