Two Men Die In Reservoir
Two men have been found dead in a reservoir in Greater Manchester.
The pair, thought to be in their late teens, vanished in Knott Hill reservoir in Ashton-under-Lyne on Monday afternoon.
A walker alerted emergency services after he saw two youths go under the water and fail to resurface.
Police and about 15 firefighters, including a specialist water search unit were called to the scene.
The bodies were later recovered by divers.
It is believed that the youths had gotten into difficulties while swimming at around 4pm.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that youngsters "needed to heed warnings" about the dangers of open water.
He said "there are dangers you might not be able to see and there is no supervision" and "in some water incidents, we have only a few minutes to save lives".
Knott Hill reservoir is next to Ashton-under-Lyne golf course, off the A670 Mossley Road.
An investigation is underway.
