Man Charged With Death By Dangerous Driving Offence

A 23-year-old has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a man was killed during a police chase. William Forrest, 52, of Walbottle in Newcastle, died after his vehicle was hit by a Mitsubishi which flipped over the central reservation on the A1(M) in County Durham. The police had been attempting to bring the reputedly stolen Mitsubishi to a "controlled halt" on the northbound carriageway on Friday morning when it crashed into the pathway of Mr Forrest's Peugeot. Paramedics declared Mr Forrest dead at the scene later. It is understood that he died of head injuries. The 22-year-old driver, named as Barry Taylor, from the Chester-le-Street area, was severely injured in the accident and was detained in the University Hospital of North Durham overnight. Mr Taylor was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Durham Crown Court on 30 July. He is also charged with stealing the keys to three vehicles from a house in Chester-le-Street.

Teenager Arrested In Connection With Cornwall Beach Murder

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a man who was found on a beach in Cornwall. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital where he later died of head injuries. The incident happened on Par Beach near St Austell on Saturday evening. Devon and Cornwall Police are in the process of contacting the man's next of kin. Police have arrested a 16-year-old girl and are also holding a man on suspicion of murder.

Six Arrested Over Nottingham Street Brawl Death
Police investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in Nottingham have arrested six people. Joshua Bradley, of Bulwell, died following a suspected street fight in Thurland Street, on 08 February. Two men, aged 21 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Deepcut investigation criticised in new report
The Surrey Police investigation into the deaths of recruits at the Deepcut army barracks has been criticised by another police force. Devon and Cornwall Police’s report into the deaths for four recruits at the barracks concluded that Surrey Police narrowed the focus of the inquiry by concentrating too much on suicide as the most likely outcome.

Man Dies And 4-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Cornwall
An investigation has been launched into an incident in Cornwall in which a man died and a four-year-old girl was seriously injured. Emergency services were called to a house in Whitecross, near Fowey, at about 11:45 on Thursday, 28 May, following a report of concern for the welfare of two people.

Man Slits Own Throat In Woolworths
A man has died after slitting his throat with a Stanley knife in a Woolworths store in Cornwall. The incident happened in the store in Penzance shortly after 3pm on Thursday. The man, believed to be in his twenties, entered the store and began slashing himself with a knife.

Man killed in Cornwall dockyard accident
A man has died after being injured in an accident at a dockyard in Cornwall. Police and an ambulance crew were called to Queen's Wharf at Falmouth around 9:45am on Wednesday morning, following reports that an employee had sustained a fatal injury. When they arrived at the scene, a male employee of A and P Falmouth was found injured.
