Woman Arrested Over Hit-And-Run Death
A woman has been arrested over a hit-and-run death in Scotland, police have said.
Margaret Borris, 39, was knocked down while walking with her son Paul, 20, in King Street, Paisley at around 11am on Monday.
Strathclyde Police are said to be expecting to recover a car - thought to have been involved in the incident - from the Kirklee town reservoir for forensic examination.
Detective Inspector Allan Woods said: "We can confirm that we have located a vehicle that fits the description of the car involved.
"The vehicle is currently submerged in water but it will be recovered and subjected to a detailed forensic examination."
It is reported that the silver Volkswagen Polo was discovered in Inans Dam near Beith in Ayrshire, 13 miles from where Margaret, a mother of three, was run down.
The Daily Record has reported that a car was waiting in a side street and accelerated towards her and Margaret was knocked from the pavement to the road. The car then reversed over her before driving off.
However police are said to be "keeping an open mind" on a motive and that Mrs Boris may have simply been in "the wrong place at the wrong time".
Police are studying hours of CCTV footage to assemble evidence.
Detective Inspector Woods has urged anyone with information to contact them.
He said "its imperative that we trace eyewitnesses to this horrendous crime".
Mrs Borris has two other children, Megan 11, and three-year-old Joseph.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a 70-year-old man died after being struck by a Vauxhall Corsa car in Dykebar Crescent, in Paisley.
The man received serious injuries and was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he died a short time later.
Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
