Weakest Link Robinson Gets Six Month Driving Ban

Weakest Link presenter Anne Robinson has been banned from driving for six months for committing a speeding offence.

Robinson, 63, who is most famous for her caustic wit, had admitted that she drove at 43mph in a 30mph zone in Anglesey Road, Portsmouth on 8 August last year.

The television presenter - who was not at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court to hear the charge - was fined £100 and ordered to pay £50 court costs.

Defending, Michael McGoldrick said Ms Robinson had not spotted the camera and had become "disorientated" by the local road system on her first trip to the city.

Mr McGoldrick said his client "accepts that she will be disqualified and she wanted me to apologise for what happened and apologise for taking up the court's time".

He also said that the disqualification would cause "significant inconvenience" for Robinson who he said travels between "40,000 and 50,000 miles each year in her car".

The court heard that Robinson had three previous speeding convictions.

They were in September 2005, March 2006 and June 2007.
