Murder Investigation After Tower Block Death

A murder investigation is underway after a man was killed in a fall from a block of flats in Bolton.

Police were called to flats at Fernstead, in Blackshaw Lane, Deane, on Sunday shortly before 7.30pm, where they found the body of the 44-year-old man, at the rear of the building.

It is reported he fell about 20 feet from the first floor balcony of the flats.

The victim was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have arrested six people, three men, aged 32, 36 and 37 and three women, aged 31, 32 and 36, on suspicion of murder.

They are being questioned in police custody.

The tower block, one of three, was last night cordoned off by police who began interviewing residents.

Floodlights were set up at the back of the flats and a police tent erected at the scene as darkness fell last night.

A semi-detached house in Hibernia Street, is also reported to have been cordoned off.
