Murray Reaches Quarter-Final After 'Memorable' Comeback

Andy Murray has earned his place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals after a thrilling victory, which has been deemed one of the most memorable comebacks in the tournament's history.

The 21-year-old Scot beat French opponent Richard Gasquet on Monday in Centre Court, to the rapturous applause of the 15,000 strong crowd. He will now face the number two seed and four-time French Open champion, Rafael Nadal - a player he has not beaten during the three matches they have played.

Murray fought his way back from two sets and a break down during the 5-7 3-6 7-6 6-2 6-4 match with Gasquet, which lasted three hours and 57 minutes.

"That's the best moment I've ever had on tennis court," the 21-year-old said. "The conditions were tough and the light was really difficult but I really wanted to finish the match."

Referring to his forthcoming match with Spaniard Nadal - who was beaten in the last two Wimbledon finals to Swiss number one seed Roger Federer - he commented: "It is going to be tough for sure, I have got a match against Nadal and I am probably not the favourite but it is a match I feel I can win.

"I am definitely a better player than I was before, I am definitely better."

During the final stages of Andy Murray's defeat over Gasquet, around 8.6 million watched the match, and in the last 15 minutes the viewing figures peaked at 10.5 million.
